Shandong Issues Several Policies and Measures to Support the Healthy and Orderly Development of New Energy Storage

On November 9, the Energy Administration of Shandong Province and other relevant departments issued Several Policies and Measures to Support the Healthy and Orderly Development of New Energy Storage.

This document presents 12 detailed measures to govern the proper and systematic advancement of new energy storage, focusing on three key application scenarios: generation side, grid side, and user side.

Considering the low utilization rate of energy storage on the generation side, Shandong plans to progressively enhance the share of new energy being incorporated into the power market transactions. Additionally, to address the limited options for energy storage transactions on the grid side, Shandong will explore a broader range of ancillary services suitable for energy storage. Moreover, to combat low profitability for energy storage on the user side, Shandong will specify the quantity of new energy storage charging during "deep valley" periods and decrease the procurement expenses for new energy storage.

After enacting the aforementioned policies and initiatives, Shandong will enhance its efforts to encourage enterprises to invest in energy storage within the province. Additionally, by prioritizing the needs of the demand side, Shandong will consistently assess energy storage requirements and make logical decisions regarding its distribution and operational sequence.
