Shandong Issues a Three-Year Action Plan to Accelerate the Green Development of Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Equipment

Recently, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province and other departments jointly issued the Implementation Plan for Three-year Action on Green, Low-carbon and High-quality Development of Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Equipment Industrial Chain in Shandong Province (2023-2025) (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"), proposing to advance the greater development of the industrial cluster for new energy ships.

Since this year, Shandong's shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment industry has maximized the advantages of the chain chief system, actively explored markets at home and abroad, and gathered industrial chain and innovation chain resources. Meanwhile, Shandong has proposed to pilot the high-quality development of marine engineering equipment in the province. Guided by the effort, Shandong has focused on improving the ecosystems of the shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment industry including products, technologies, enterprises, chains, and clusters, and worked to implement 12 key tasks in five categories.

Notably, Shandong will prioritize the construction of a manufacturing base for new energy ships in Jining, accelerate the development of LNG-powered inland river ships, explore the design and production of different types of new energy ships such as lithium battery, hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol-powered inland river ships, and create a replicable, scalable, and sustainable benchmark for green and intelligent inland river ships in northern China.
