Shandong’s Energy Consumption per 10,000 yuan of GDP in the First Two Years of the 14th Five-Year Plan Period Drops by 11.1%, Representing Steady Progress in the Implementation of the "Dual Carbon" Strategy

Shandong has implemented the "dual carbon" strategy at a steady pace. In the first two years of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the energy consumption per 10,000 yuan of GDP dropped by 11.1% cumulatively, and 72% of the target set in the 14th Five-Year Plan was achieved.

Over recent years, the province has made breakthroughs in replacing old growth drivers with new ones. The "Top Ten" industries have enjoyed constant development and expansion, high-quality resources have been gathered to make breakthroughs in 42 representative industrial chains, and 7 clusters have been selected among the first batch of strategic emerging industrial clusters in China, ranking first in the country. The province has innovatively carried out a comprehensive evaluation of energy efficiency and driven places, industries, and enterprises to improve comprehensive energy utilization efficiency at a faster pace. Meanwhile, the province has vigorously implemented the "Ten Major Projects" for peaking carbon dioxide emissions and efficiently promoted the low-carbon transition of energy.

Besides, focusing on key areas and directions such as information technology, high-end equipment, and technological transformation, the province has planned and implemented more than 3,000 key green, low-carbon, and high-quality development projects with a combined investment of 8.1 trillion yuan to generate sustained momentum for development. Next, Shandong will make solid efforts to handle the relationship between high-quality development and high-level protection well and support high-quality development with a high-quality ecological environment.
