Shandong Makes Strong Breakthroughs in Emerging Industries

Emerging industries are the engine propelling high-quality development. In recent years, Shandong has seized every opportunity to accelerate the whole-chain development of industries such as new energy vehicle, integrated circuit, and energy conservation and environmental protection, cultivated strategic emerging industries and future industrial clusters such as aerospace information in Jinan, artificial intelligence in Qingdao, metaverse in Weifang, and Oriental Spaceport in Yantai, and continuously fostered new growth drivers and new advantages by opening up new fields and tracks for development.

Shandong has made every effort to promote the integrated development of strategic emerging industrial clusters, with seven clusters selected for the first batch of national-level strategic emerging industrial clusters, ranking first in China. In addition, it has cultivated and accredited 25 provincial-level strategic emerging industrial clusters, forming a favorable pattern where the industrial clusters at the national and provincial levels complement each other and pursue echelon development.

In recent years, Shandong has implemented the "chain chief" system in an all-round way. Focusing on the weak links, targeted measures have been taken to extend, consolidate and improve the industrial chains. As a result, 11 symbolic industrial chains have been established and 112 "chain leader" enterprises have continued to enhance dominance in their respective ecosystems.
