Jinan Bio-med Harbour: Accelerate the Building of Biomedical Industry Belt in Shandong through the Integration of Production and Research and Cluster Development

The bio-medicine industry is one of the most innovative and fast-growing strategic emerging industries, and also one of the four leading industries under Jinan's strategy of "invigorating the city through industry".

On July 7, Jinan Bio-med Harbour officially opened. A group contract-signing ceremony was held for 24 projects, involving industry leaders nationwide. Thanks to its focus on bio-pharmaceuticals, generic drugs, medical devices, pharmaceutical logistics, and traditional Chinese medicine, Jinan Bio-med Harbour completed more than half of the investment attraction goal before it was opened. Jinan Bio-med Harbour focuses on the integration of production and research and promotes cluster development, so as to accelerate the building of a biomedical industry belt. Focusing on the three main industrial lines of "medicine, healthcare and elderly care", it has planned the development layout of the biomedical industry featuring "one institute and three zones".

The scale of Jinan's bio-medicine and health industry has exceeded 200 billion yuan, ranking first in Shandong Province and among the top in China. It also boasts 5,400 patents in the biomedical industry and seizes the most global market share in over 20 active pharmaceutical ingredients, forming a landscape "led by two cores, supported by multiple points, and developed in coordination".
