Shandong Aims to Cultivate and Strengthen 1,000 Green and High-tech Enterprises by 2025

Recently, the Department of Science & Technology of Shandong Province, together with eight departments including the Shandong Development and Reform Commission, formulated and issued a Work Plan for Shandong's Goal of Carbon Peaking Supported by Technology. The plan sets a goal to nurture and strengthen around 1,000 high-tech enterprises in the green and low-carbon sectors by 2025. It also aims to build five to eight industrial clusters with green technology characterized by large-scale production, strong innovation capabilities, and a complete industrial supply chain.

According to the plan, Shandong will focus on resolving bottlenecks in key technologies for green and low-carbon development. To this end, it will introduce three to five national-level innovative talents and teams consisting of urgently needed individuals who have a higher education, exceptional technical expertise, and a deep understanding of advanced scientific knowledge and technology, while putting an emphasis on cultivating eight to 10 talent teams in major, core and key technologies. The purpose is to enhance Shandong's capacity to support the construction of a green and low-carbon circular economic development system.

The key tasks involved in this endeavor encompass 10 areas such as cutting-edge innovation in foundational fields, innovation in core technologies, leading innovation platforms, introduction and cultivation of low-carbon talent, cultivation of innovative enterprises, demonstration and promotion of innovation projects, regional innovation development, research on innovation strategies, and low-carbon international cooperation and engagement in green and low-carbon practices at a national level.
