Shandong’s Tai’an City Develops the New Energy Industry by Combining "PV and Equipment Manufacturing"

Advancing green and low-carbon economic and social development is crucial for achieving high-quality development. PV power generation is one of the important clean energy sources. Now in an effort to seize the opportunities brought by China's strategy to peak carbon dioxide emissions and achieve carbon neutrality, Tai'an City has worked hard to green its power structure. To this end, Tai'an City has made a big push to develop "PV plus equipment manufacturing", build a new power system with new energy playing the leading role and gather new momentum for green development.

While developing the PV industry, Tai'an City pays attention to ecological restoration. Guided by a strategy driven by a combination of "resources and industry", it hopes to maximize all the resources such as coal mining subsidence areas, barren hills and slopes, and water surfaces and identify a path of green development.

As it actively responds to the national call for energy transition and strives for more and stronger policy support, it has achieved remarkable progress in the installed capacity of PV power generation. By March 2023, the installed capacity of new energy in the city had risen from 2.337 million kilowatts to 4.247 million kilowatts, up 81.7%. Of the amount, the installed capacity of PV power generation had increased from 940,000 kilowatts to 2.501 million kilowatts, up 166%.
