Shandong Provincial Videoconference on Business Work Held in Jinan to Recover and Expand Consumption and Promote Opening-up

On February 6, 2023, Shandong Provincial Videoconference on Business Work was held in Jinan, summarizing the past year's work and planning the key tasks for the new year. Chen Fei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Director of the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province and Director of the Office of China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, attended and addressed the Videoconference. Some main leaders of the commerce departments of Jinan, Qingdao, and Heze delivered speeches.

The Videoconference stressed that Shandong will beef up efforts to recover and expand consumption, promote high-level opening-up, and emerge as a new leader in opening-up. First, priority will be given to consumption recovery and expansion and new targeted policies will be introduced for bulk consumption, rural consumption, brand consumption, holiday consumption, and emerging consumption. Second, greater efforts will be made to stabilize the volume and optimize the structure of foreign trade, introduce a three-year action plan for the high-quality development of import trade, adjust and optimize the catalogue of technologies and products that are encouraged to import by Shandong Province and expand the import of bulk commodities in the new categories. Third, more efforts will be made to attract and utilize foreign investment. Specifically, work will be done to guide foreign-funded enterprises to invest the retained profits in key industrial links, stabilize and expand industrial chains, continue to expand the utilization of foreign capital by state-owned enterprises, and increase the utilization of foreign capital in the construction of major projects in the province. Fourth, positive efforts will be made to attract more large and quality projects to development zones, improve industrial agglomeration of development zones and expand industrial clusters. Moreover, more than 1,000 economic and trade activities will be planned.
