Recently, Liaocheng City and Port Vila, the capital of the Republic of Vanuatu, held a signing ceremony for friendly cooperation cities. In the future, the two cities will conduct cooperation in economy and trade, agriculture, cultural tourism, and so on. In his speech, H.E. Li Minggang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Vanuatu, expressed his hope that Liaocheng City will give full play to its own advantages and take the opportunity of establishing friendly cooperation relations with Port Vila to actively carry out practical exchanges and cooperation.

Zhang Baishun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Liaocheng Municipal Committee and Mayor of Liaocheng City, hoped that the two cities will take this occasion as an opportunity to build a mechanism for in-depth communication, formulate a plan for mutual communication, and establish a channel for regular interaction and mutual visits; expand cooperation to a broader range of fields, make full use of the platform advantages of the China-Pacific Island Countries Climate Change Cooperation Center, and enhance resilience to climate change; hold promotion and negotiation activities in due course and promote practical cooperation in economy and trade, agriculture, cultural tourism, and other fields; strengthen higher-level people-to-people exchanges, carry out extensive exchange activities in culture, medical care, and sports and between young people and create a new role model for sister cities.
