Shandong Introduces 27 Measures to Grow Toward a Scientifically Developed Province in the New Era

Recently, the People's Government of Shandong Province introduced the Implementation Opinions on Advancing Shandong Toward a Scientifically Developed Province in the New Era (hereinafter referred to as the Opinions), which proposed 27 measures in nine aspects to promote Shandong's self-supporting ability in science as a way to contribute to the country's strength in this field.

The Opinions suggest accelerating the construction of major sci-tech infrastructure, organizing and implementing pre-research projects of major sci-tech infrastructure, and facilitating the inclusion of more major sci-tech infrastructure in the national layout. It is estimated that by 2027, the R&D investment intensity across Shandong Province will reach 2.8%, and the comprehensive sci-tech strength will be significantly improved. In addition, Shandong is expected to have about 40,000–50,000 high-tech enterprises, 50,000–60,000 registered enterprises in the sci-tech SME information base, and an output value of high-tech enterprises above the designated size accounting for about 53% of the output value of industries above designated size.
