Shandong Defines Goal of Building a Strong Advanced Manufacturing Industry: 10,000 Specialized, Sophisticated, Distinctive, and Innovative Enterprises, and 1,000 Leading Enterprises

On November 18, Shandong Provincial Government Press Office held a press conference to present the Action Plan for Building Strong Advanced Manufacturing Industry in Shandong Province (2022-2025). It was reported that last year, Shandong’s manufacturing value added accounted for 28.3% of the province’s GDP, the first rebound in nearly a decade.

An Wenjian, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province and spokesman, said that going forward, the province will work to build pilot areas of green, low-carbon and high-quality development, strive to build a modern industrial system driven by new drivers, and shape new advantages for high-quality economic development. According to the Action Plan, the province will increase the number of specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and innovative enterprises from the about 4,000 planned in its “14th Five-Year Plan” to about 10,000, and the number of leading manufacturers will be increased from about 900 to about 1,000.
