Zaozhuang’s Lithium Battery Industry Cluster Takes Shape

Zaozhuang has vigorously implemented the strategy of "industry-driven development", aligned itself with Shandong's "ten key industries", and endeavored to create a "6+3" modern industry system led by high-end equipment, high-end chemicals, new energy, new materials, new pharmaceuticals and next-generation information technology. The 2022 provincial government work report proposed efforts to "support Zaozhuang in creating a lithium battery industry cluster". The 2022 Action Program for "Ten Key Industries" underlined efforts to "develop distinctive and agglomerative industrial 'landmarks' like Northern China Lithium Battery Capital (Zaozhuang)". Zaozhuang has pooled citywide efforts to develop the lithium battery industry, broken regional administrative barriers, formed a "1+3+3" overall layout for lithium battery development, created an integral industry chain from lithium mining and lithium ore processing, to the production, test, detection, application, disassembly and recycling of four key materials (cathode, anode, diaphragm, electrolyte) and power batteries, and opened up a new prospect for the clustered development of the lithium battery industry.
