Shandong Accelerates the Development of New Materials Industry Cluster

The new energy and new materials industry, one of the "top ten" industries in Shandong, is the cornerstone of the upgrading of traditional industries and the development of strategic emerging industries. This year, Shandong will promote the formation of a number of new materials industry aggregation zone with location advantages and distinctive industrial characteristics. Besides, it will also cultivate and enhance more than 20 cluster leading enterprises.

At present, driven by the "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" goals, innovative new material enterprises with core technologies are showing their development advantages and ushering in new opportunities to become bigger and stronger. Shandong enterprises aim at key opportunities to seize the opportunity, advance the development, and carry out targeted scientific and technological innovation.

It is reported that Shandong will take new materials as one of the important industries for industrial transformation and upgrading. Shandong has cultivated 11 provincial "goose formation" industry clusters, with Binzhou high-end aluminum-based new materials as a representative, and 4 special industry clusters. This year, Shandong will build about 10 new materials industry clusters worth tens of billions of RMB, 2-3 industry clusters worth hundreds of billions of RMB with world influence, and add about 300 new high-tech enterprises in the field of new materials and reach a total of about 2600.
