In recent years, Rizhao City has cultivated the life and health industry as a key industry and has built a number of park platforms such as the Biomedical Science and Technology Industrial Park in the Economic Development Zone, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in the High-tech Zone, the Marine Food and Medicine Industrial Park in Lanshan District, the Medical Device Industrial Park in Ju County, and the Chinese Herbal Medicine Planting Base in Kushan Township in Ju County, attracting a large number of high-quality enterprises to settle in Rizhao with an industrial scale that continues to gather and grow.

As the industrial scale continues to escalate, the medical and health care industry is taking off in all directions. Rizhao has successfully established one of the first batch National Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Tourism Demonstration Zones, has a National High-Quality Traditional Chinese Medicine Production Base, the only Biochemical Professional Park in Shandong, established a think tank for the development of medical and health industry with the participation of 16 academicians, formed a number of industrial chains such as chemical medicine, marine biology and medical devices, and has a good foundation for industrial development.
