Qingdao West Coast New Area Plans to Launch 101 Key Projects in Marine and Related Industries

Projects are the locomotive to drive economic growth and the jack to improve economic development. In 2022, the Office of Marine Development Commission of Qingdao West Coast New Area (WCNA) will unswervingly center around projects, vigorously tap the full potential of projects, scientifically plan to launch 101 key projects in marine and related industries with a total investment of RMB 200 billion, continuously inject new impetus to the industrial upgrading and development, and further promote ocean economy.

WCNA will insist on prioritizing projects and promoting the transformation of industrial structure through good projects and good quality. The top three industries among the 101 projects are maritime equipment manufacturing, marine biomedicine and marine scientific research, with 21, 12 and 12 projects respectively, accounting for 44.5% of the total projects.

Among them, the five projects with a total investment of RMB 3.3 billion, such as Qingdao Marine Science and Technology Park Phase II and Oriental Youdo Marine Biological Cosmetics Project have been included in 2022 Qingdao key projects in modern marine industries, accounting for 26.3% of the total projects of the city. Offshore Experimental Site Phase I of Basic Research in Marine and Offshore Engineering of Harbin Engineering University has been included in 2022 Qingdao key projects in modern marine industries, accounting for 20% of the total projects of the city.

For the next step, the Office of Marine Development Commission of WCNA will further optimize the monthly scheduling and notification system, comprehensively grasp the progress of key projects in marine and related industries in WCNA, strengthen the communication and coordination with competent units, strengthen responsibility, accelerate the construction of projects, improve the construction of modern marine industry system, and strive to promote the breakthrough development of the marine economy.
