Shandong Innovated Ways to Attract Talents, Recruiting More Than 3,000 Postdoctoral Researchers at Home and Abroad

Recently, Shandong released the 2022 postdoctoral open recruitment document, openly recruiting more than 3,000 outstanding young doctors at home and abroad to carry out postdoctoral research work. The number of recruits has increased by more than 20% year-on-year, and the province has spent 1.66 billion RMB on attracting talents, which is a record high for the number of postdoctoral recruits and funds.

Shandong provided many outstanding policy "gift packages" in this open recruitment:

1. Relaxed age limit. For postdoctoral research workstation applicants, with the consent of the station unit, the age can be expanded to 40 years old.

2. Special funding. Postdoctoral fellows who have entered the station can apply for the "Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program", "Postdoctoral Innovation Project", "Doctoral (Postdoctoral) Living Allowance", "Postdoctoral International Exchange Program" and other postdoctoral funding programs in Shandong Province, among which the "Shandong Boxin (博新) Program" selects outstanding doctors who are fresh or recently graduated and provides special funding to engage in postdoctoral research work, with a funding of 600,000 RMB per person.

3. Increase support for business start-ups. Shandong will support postdoctoral fellows in innovation, entrepreneurship, business incubation and commercialization of scientific and technological achievements. The first provincial postdoctoral innovation achievement transformation base has been established in Qingdao to provide services such as policy consultation, venue and financing for the industrialization of postdoctoral innovation research projects in Qingdao, and earnestly pave the way for postdoctoral innovation and entrepreneurship.

4. Optimize talent services. Shandong will open the "direct train" service for professional title review. Postdoctoral fellows in the province can directly apply for deputy senior professional titles, and postdoctoral fellows who stay (come to) work in Shandong after leaving the postdoctoral research station, workstation or provincial postdoctoral innovation practice base in and out of the province can apply directly senior professional title.

Meanwhile, employers also provide attractive salary and financial support, with the maximum annual salary of 800,000 RMB and the maximum research funding of 10 million RMB, as well as benefits such as social insurance, housing allowance, paid annual leave, profits from the commercialization of research achievements and the allocation of research assistants.
