Shandong’s CPI in January Up 0.8% YoY

According to data released by the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Shandong, in January, Shandong's CPI (Consumer Price Index) was up 0.8% year on year, down from a 1.5% increase last month, and up 0.6% month on month. The urban CPI and the rural CPI were up 0.8% year on year alike.

In January, prices of food, tobacco and alcohol declined by 1.3% year on year, contributing approximately 0.4% to the CPI decrease. Prices of food went down by 2.7%. Prices of pork down by 45.7%; prices of livestock meat other than pork and non-staple food down by 20.5%; prices of eggs down by 1.5%, prices of fruits up by 11.9%; prices of aquatic products up by 9.3%; prices of beans, edible oils and grains up by 9.0%, 6.0% and 3.1% respectively; and prices of vegetables almost even. Costs of dining at restaurants went up by 2.1%.

Prices of transportation and communication, residence, education, culture and recreation, medicare, clothing, and household articles and services went up by 5.2%, 1.3%, 0.8%, 0.4%, 0.3% and 0.1% respectively; prices of other articles and services went down by 0.1%.

In January, Shandong's PPI (Producer Price Index) was up 10.6% year on year, down from an 11.6% increase last month; and was flat month on month, up from a 1.6% decrease last month. Purchasing prices were up 10.0% year on year, down from an 11.4% increase last month; and were down 0.4% month on month, down from a 0.8% decrease last month.
