The Development and Reform Commission of Shandong Province has recently published the 2022 Provincial-Level Key Project List. 1,400 provincial-level key projects are all together included in the 2022 Provincial-Level Key Project List. Their total investment is RMB 1 trillion and their annual planned investment is RMB 285.7 billion. The provincial government had approved 600 provincial-level key projects before 2022. Therefore, Shandong Province has confirmed 2,000 provincial-level key projects in total and the total investment is RMB 3.1 trillion.

The provincial-level key projects include preferred projects for the transformation from the old driving force to the new driving force, signed key projects for “investment and talent attraction” and projects for improvement of local shortcomings. Focusing on the target tasks of the Action Plan for High-Quality Development and Breakthrough of the Top Ten Industries, the preferred projects for the transformation from the old driving force to the new driving force aim to promote improvement of both the industrial chain and the supply chain and develop both new business types and new modes for frontier economy. With a total investment of RMB 508.9 billion, the preferred projects include 700 projects. The signed key projects for “investment and talent attraction” mainly focus on the provincial-level key investment attraction and project contract signing events and the municipal and county leaders are responsible for implementation of the investment attraction achievements. With a total investment of RMB 157.1 billion, the projects include 200 projects. The projects for improvement of local shortcomings mainly focus on ecological protection of the Yellow River Basin, new urbanization construction and some other tasks, and highlight improvement of the five local shortcomings: the ecological reservation and restoration such as the regional river basin management, the comprehensive pollution treatment such as the separation of rain water and sewage water, the municipal facilities such as the waterlogging treatment, the urban renewal such as the old and small residential quarter renovation, and the public services such as the care for old and very young people. With a total investment of RMB 332.5 billion, the projects for improvement of local shortcomings include 500 projects.
