Weihai International Port Economic and Technological Development District founded in 2005 and became a provincial-level development zone in March 2006, and a national economic and technological development zone in November 2013. It is located in the upper reaches of Mishan Reservoir, a class B reserves of drinking water sources. There is more than 60,000 mu of arable land (2.4 mu per capita), 34,000 mu of mountain and arid land, and about 12,000 mu of waters and wetlands, which show outstanding advantages in developing modern agriculture.

The district is located in the core area of Weihai according to the overall urbanization and integrated urban development project, with a planned population of 500,000. Carbon Fibre Industrial Park
The carbon fibre industrial park has a total planning area of 3,667 mu. Playing the leading role of Weihai Expand Fiber Co., Ltd, we have built a complete service chain of scientific research - incubation - acceleration - production as well as a complete industrial chain of raw silk - carbonization - testing - application - recycling. There have been four major zones, namely, incubation zone for innovation and research, carbon fiber production zone, composite material production zone, and intelligent life support zone. At present, three unique state-owned platforms - the engineering laboratory, engineering technology research centre and industrial metrology centre have settled in, accelerating the development of national carbon fibre technology innovation centre and national carbon fibre and composite materials industrial base.
China-Europe (Weihai) Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperation Zone
China-Europe (Weihai) Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperation Zone has a planned area of about 5 square kilometers, focusing on the application of carbon fibre and new materials, electromechanical equipment and intelligent manufacturing, high-end medical devices and biomedical industries. It is an important platform to connect with high-end European resources, serving as a gathering place of elements for international industries and innovative services, which is an international platform for comprehensive industrial development with German elements.
Weihai International Logistics Park
Covering an planned area of 950,000 square kilometers, Weihai International Logistics Park is a key logistics project of Shandong Province in the international port economic and technological district. There is “China-South Korea Modern Logistics Industrial Park” and “China Distribution Centre for South Korean Goods” designed and developed by China-South Korea FTA Regional Economic Partnership Demonstration Zone. Five functional areas, including warehousing and logistics area, international distribution area, express logistics area, cold chain logistics area and comprehensive service area will provide enterprises in and around the park with storage, freight transportation, processing, commerce and trade, freight forwarding, information and financial services.
Weihai International Logistics Park has an overseas warehouse of 3,000 square meters at the port of Pyeongtaek, South Korea, providing trailers, warehousing, loading and unloading and other logistics services in Korea. In this way, customers will enjoy a full China-South Korea logistics supply chain featuring “one-stop”, time-efficient and low-cost logistics services, which includes a transportation path from manufacturers to overseas warehouses, Korean ports, Jiaodong international container shipping, Weihai port, logistics park and distribution.
Medical Equipment Industrial Park
Covering a total area of about 1,200 mu, the park focuses on intelligent medical care, medical instruments, equipment, appliances, in-vitro diagnostic reagents and calibrators, materials and so on and is dedicated to the research and development, production and sales of operating room related equipment, ICU-related products, medical beds and related products and other medical equipment and products, as well as testing reagents, testing consumables and production imaging.
Supportive Policies
The Administrative Committee of Weihai International Port Economic and Technological Development District issued the “Opinions on Supporting the Use of Foreign Investment to Promote Stable Growth of Foreign Trade”.
Standards for Supporting Foreign Investment Projects (1) For new and capital increase projects with an actual use of foreign investment of more than US$5 million and less than US$10 million annually after January 1, 2021, 2% of the actual use of foreign investment for that year shall be granted as a support; for new and capital increase projects with an actual use of foreign investment of US$10 million or more annually, 3% of the actual use of foreign investment for that year shall be granted as a support. The funds shall be applied and allocated on an annual basis. (2) For enterprises actively introducing and utilizing Japanese and South Korean investment, and strengthening the development of the China-Europe (Weihai) Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperation Zone in accordance with the requirements for deepening regional cooperation with Japan, South Korea, Europe and other key regions at municipal and provincial levels, 2% of the actual use of foreign capital for that year shall be granted to the Japanese, South Korean and European projects whose actual use of foreign capital reaches US$1 million or more and less than US$5 million annually after January 1 2021; for those with an actual use of foreign investment of US$5 million or more annually, the support will be provided at 3% of the actual use of foreign investment in that year. The funds shall be applied and allocated on an annual basis.
