Rizhao Comprehensive Bonded Zone, located in the southeast of the main urban area of Rizhao City, was established on May 31, 2018 with the approval of the State Council. With a planned area of 2.88 square kilometers, the zone reaches Gangxi 11th Road in the east, Shenzhen Road in the south, Linyi Road in the west and Shugang Expressway in the north.

Rizhao Comprehensive Bonded Zone is the sixth state-level comprehensive bonded zone in Shandong Province. It is a special open area with the highest level of openness, the most preferential policies, the most complete functions and the most simplified procedures in China except free trade zones, and is a pilot zone for the opening up of finance, trade, investment, service, transportation and other fields.

It is 7 kilometers away from the municipal government, 11 kilometers away from the Rizhao West (high-speed rail) comprehensive transportation hub, and 18 kilometers away from Rizhao Airport. There are two thousand-kilometer railway lines in the area, Xinheyanri and Wari, which can directly connect to Central Europe and Central Asia. Therefore, it is uniquely endowed to develop multimodal transport and bonded logistics business. Adjacent to the National Economic and Technological Development Zone in the west and Rizhao Port, a 100-million-ton port in the east, the characteristic industrial clusters such as new-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, biomedicine and general health, and bulk commodity logistics are developing rapidly.
