Shandong Institute of Industrial Technology (hereinafter referred to as "SIIT") is jointly organized by Jinan Municipal Government and Shandong University. On September 26, 2018, it was officially registered as a legal entity of an institution not included in the establishment and management of the institution, aiming to become an international first-class new research and development institution focusing on high-tech zones, serving Jinan Municipality and radiating Shandong Province. (I) Key tasks Based on the advantages of Jinan's economic and industrial development, relying on the advantages of Shandong University, colleges and universities at home and abroad, R&D units and enterprises, SIIT has built a collaborative innovation ecosystem integrating technological research and development, achievement transformation, scientific and technological services and industrial incubation to support Jinan's economic and social development and even the province's economic and social development. (II) Carrier conditions SIIT takes on three major carriers, which are the headquarters of ITRI, the incubation base of scientific research and the industrial development base. Jinan High-Tech Industrial Development Zone is responsible for the construction. The ITRI is headquartered in the central area of Jinan High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, with a total area of about 10,000 square meters. It is planned to be put into operation in 2019. It mainly carries the projects of ITRI Innovation Center, high-end industrialization, office work and image display, and builds the core image of ITRI. Located in Qianfoshan Campus of Shandong University, the Phase I (44,000 square meters) of the base was officially opened in October 2017, and the Phase II (32,000 square meters) was successfully capped on October 16, 2018. It will be put into full use in 2019 to build the innovation center of SIIT. The industrial development base is located in Qilu Innovation Valley, covering an area of 95 mu for Phase I and a construction area of 180,000 square meters, which will be put into use in the second half of 2019; The Phase II covers an area of 750 mu and a construction area of 800,000 square meters. The project was launched in 2018 to build the talent and industry leading position of SIIT in accordance with the incubator + accelerator + science and technology industrial park + supporting facilities.
Facing the needs of Jinan's 1 trillion-billion-yuan industry, SIIT is based on the four leading industries of electronic information, biomedicine, intelligent manufacturing and big data in the high-tech zone. It focuses on introducing large-scale institutes, R&D headquarters, innovation and entrepreneurship teams, building innovation and transformation platforms, transferring and transforming cutting-edge technological achievements, and incubating technology-based projects.
