The base will be built in an attempt to be a famous "sci-tech finance complex", and attract merchants in line with the principle of "multiple universities in one park" and "multiple institutions in one park" in a bid to attract colleges and universities and large leading enterprises to set up R&D offices here, gather R&D achievements and create a technological innovation and industry-university-research cooperation system. It will attract venture capital, funds, private equity and other investment institutions and create an innovative venture capital system in an effort to establish government-directed funds. Further, it will attract domestic intellectual property trading institutions to set up trading platforms for scientific research achievements and build a support system for scientific and technological services.
The National (Weihai) Regional Innovation Center Phase I is nestled in the Industry Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Demonstration Base of Shuangdao Bay Science and Technology City. It covers a total construction area of 7,100 square meters. It will be built into a key development platform and service trade center of the Sino-Korea Free Trade Area, headquarters and R&D base of high-tech listed companies, scientific research and technology transfer center of well-known universities, cultivation and development platform of strategic emerging industries, science-finance integration demonstration park, incubator of small and medium-sized innovative enterprise, national low-carbon ecological demonstration park and supporting service center for the west zone of Shuangdao Bay.
Jiaodong Peninsula is a dynamic economic region in Shandong Province and can develop advantageous industries by making full use of local economic resources.
